Data Sources
World Bank Open Data
GDP per capita, GNI per capita, and economic indicators for 190+ countries. Updated annually.
ILO (International Labour Organization)
Mean and median wage data, employment statistics, and labor market indicators by country.
IMF World Economic Outlook
PPP conversion factors, inflation data, and economic growth projections.
Methodology
Salary Conversion: All salaries are converted to annual USD using approximate exchange rates for comparability.
Global Percentile: Calculated using a log-normal distribution model fitted to ILO global wage data. Parameters: μ = 8.5, σ = 1.35 (approximately $5,000 global median).
PPP Adjustment: IMF purchasing power parity factors are applied to show real purchasing power equivalents across countries.
Tax Calculations: Based on official tax brackets for 20+ countries. Simplified models for remaining countries using estimated effective rates.
Job Salary Estimates: Country-specific job salaries are estimated by applying the country's mean wage ratio to global median job salaries.
